No news this time around, just a very important quick update:
- The pledge manager will be locking on January 1st, so please check your email and fill it out before December 31st to avoid delay in delivering your Retro Game Stands.
- We're at 87% completed, but this process will be much smoother if we can get close to 100% :)
I'll send another update soon (with video!) when I receive my next round of samples.

Factory samples are HERE!

I have received factory samples of both stand designs, the Retro Game Stands and Handheld Game Stands, and overall they look great! There's one fix that we're making before we go into full production, but we should be able to have them in full production before Christmas.
Handheld Game Stands
These look fantastic - an overall better product than the 3D printed original: stronger, and better at displaying open-chip carts like Atari Lynx and Bandai Wonderswan.
Retro Game Stands
These are also excellent, but we're making one fix before calling them finished. The grip on cartridges is a bit too tight, and while it'll cost a bit for me to have it fixed, I'd rather pay up and send you the best possible product so that's what I'm doing.
The retooling needed to make this happen is minor (I go into greater detail in the video above) but it will add 7 days to the overall delivery schedule. Depending on other factors this may shift us to a February delivery date, but that extra week will give a much better product. I will keep you posted as production goes into full swing.

Tooling & Production Update
Hey everybody! Tooling is underway for the injection molding - we're about three weeks out from having the first test shot to make sure everything works correctly, and once that's been confirmed the actual production process should be very quick! We're still on track to see delivery by the end of January, and I'll keep you updated as I have more info to share :)
Here's a few (admittedly low res) pics of the tooling process. It's all still super early but it's exciting to watch nonetheless!
Pledge Manager
Regarding the pledge manager, it's nearly complete. There were a few complications setting it up* and I want to make sure the process goes smoothly, so I'm requesting some assistance from BackerKit to make sure it's all perfect before rolling it out to you all. You should expect to see the pledge manager go out early next week assuming I get the assistance I need quickly (BackerKit has been a very prompt partner up until now so I expect that I will).
* Complete Transparency for anybody who wants more detail on what "complications" I'm referring to: the campaign was structured so that you could back for a certain number of stands, and then pick out any combination of Cart/Handheld and any color combinations you would like, giving you complete control to customize your order. This requires a bit of help from the BackerKit tech dept. to set up correctly, so that's why it's taking longer than anticipated. Thanks for your patience and I'll continue to be transparent as we move forward with the campaign.
Transparent Handheld Stands? Yes please!
One last announcement: although it was not promised as part of the Kickstarter campaign, I have heard your pleas and will be offering handheld stands in the Transparent color as well! These can be chosen as part of your initial pledge, or added ala-carte in the add-on shop.

Factory Tooling Started + Pledge Manager Update!

Manufacturing Update
Last week we received payment from Kickstarter, and today I have sent out the deposit to start factory tooling on both stands!
During the gap between the campaign and today, I have made a few improvements to the stands to make sure the final product is the best that it can be!
Improvements:
Improved clip on Retro Game Stands to minimize pressure on cartridges - this was a necessity as the old clip relied on the flexibility of the 3D printed part, but the new injection molding process will create harder, less flexible plastic.
Modified clip on Handheld Game Stands for compatibility with the single-mold process we are using. These versions do not support the Neo Geo Pocket Color, but for those collectors who are still looking for NGP support you'll be able to find the 3D printed versions that do support that console at my Etsy shop.* A positive side-effect of this change is that Atari Lynx, Bandai Wonderswan, and some unlicensed Game Boy games actually look better when displayed in this new design due to the flat-fronted clip :)
[* Neo Geo Pocket Color supported was not promised as part of the campaign. However, if you're a Neo Geo Pocket collector hoping to get NGP support as part of your pledge, please message me directly and we'll work it out.]
Thinner parts, less plastic used. The 3D printed part was hollow, but the injection molded part is not. This means 1) the injection molded part is stronger, and 2) using the old model caused the stands to nearly double in weight (leading to unnecessary shipping cost increases!) Through some strategic thinning of parts, we have a stand that is both stronger than the 3D printed one, AND weighs roughly the same!
Testing and iteration on the new design using super-high-res 3D printing at 100% fill rate: the closest thing I can get to testing it with an actual injection-molded part! Here's a photo of both new stands in their final 3D printed prototype glory!
Pledge Manager Update
Now that the stands are being tooled, I'll be setting up the BackerKit Pledge Manager over the next week. I expect to send out the pledge manager email on or before October 30th. In the pledge manager, you will be able to select your stands, colors, and even purchase additional stands at the same bulk price as your pledge.
This is the first time I have ever done this, and the add-on shop for this campaign will be a bit complex to set up, so I appreciate your patience as I work through the details :)
This is a brand new adventure for Turbografx-16 and Sega Genesis - complete with physical release special editions! There's a demo available and the game is quite fun - check it out here and if you like what you see be sure to share it with your retro gaming groups.

We're Fully Funded... including Handheld Game Stands!
I know I'm a few days late sending this update - but yep, you guys ROCK! Fully funded, including the Handheld Game Stands stretch goal - this is going to be great :)
I appreciate all the help you all gave, not only by pledging your hard-earned money but also for the time and willingness to share this campaign. This went so, SO well and I can't thank you all enough!
What's Next?
I already have the files in the works to get production started on both stand types, and I will keep everybody posted as the process moves forward. In the near future, you will receive a link to the BackerKit Pledge Manager which you will be able to use to select your stands (and purchase more from the add-on shop, if you want to add more... particularly, if you'd like to add some handhelds to the mix ;) )
Other than that, hang tight and I'll keep you posted!
